I Cant believe I haven't heard a peep about this seed from anyone!,, or has this seed been over looked?,,lol

1421.5 Stelts (1385 Jutras x 904 Stelts)

The 1385 Jutras grew Daves 1421.5 at over 12% heavy.

The pollinator was from the exact same 904 plant that grew Dave's 1662.5 (3rd biggest pumpkin in the world this year) at over 10% heavy!

Now that there is a seed to try if you can get one! I'm betting this seed will see alot of dirt next year, what do ya guys think?,,

and for the orange lovers out there this could possably be the seed you been looking for, plus a little added bonus of growing huge!,,lol.

Im thinking you will be able to find this seed from alot of different clubs this year, and Im also betting the OVGPG club will sell them at their seed sale also. I hope so!

A lot of stelts pumpkins are not listed on the AGGC. If there where more pictures and info on it i am sure it would peek some interest. sounds like a great cross!

I know Alex's 700 (04 Stelts) was grown in about 100 sq ft. It was amazing that someone could grow that big, in such a small space.

Brooks...Scott Cully carved the 1421 in our warehouse for the TODAY show. Scott was very happy with the wall thickness. He's glad Dave wasn't using Calcium wraps this year too. He claims he can always tell as it makes the carving harder.

There might be pix in my diary.

Jusy a guess , but Its really going to peek some intrest next year I bet,, after its grown,,lol.

Joe, I found it on the aggc, the 1240 Bogie (1385 x 904) went about 4.3% light, Still a great cross none the less!.

And Bogies really probably wouldnt have been light but the blossom end had a crazy indent, came half ways into the pumpkin! The front looked exactly like the 1689, both were nice orange pumpkins, good seed to grow for sure!

Hey Brooks, why must you make these things public all the time. Now there won't be any seeds left!!!

If anyone here saw where Alex grew his 1240 they would give him a 500# handicap and call it a new WR. Seriously.

Alex's 700 off the 904 looked EXACTLY like Dave's 1662. Just smaller :)

Looks like Alex knew something last winter during seed selection.

LOL,,, Yea, and If I wouldn't have lost all my stumps to Mr Frank Foamy Fester, my pumpkin would have looked like Christys 1725. I would have had 1000 plus handicap also Chris!,,,lol. You know the saying in handgrenades and horseshoes,,lol

Seriously though, I'm not taking nothing away from Alex's pumpkin, Im sure alot of growers will be growing that seed next year, his was bigger then mine this year by a long shot, great cross for sure, by a great guy and grower.

Jed I really like that 1258 also, but the one I really like is Rons 1288, and take your pick On Christy's and Nicks top 3 pumpkins they grew that was crossed with their 1385 that grew their 1725.

Next year isnt going to be as hard for me to decide on what to grow like in years past.,, or will it?,,lol

Ok Ill keep quiet now and not give out Boz's top picks of 2010,,,lol

Like I said Brooks you'd have to see Alex's plot. He is in "the hood" so to speak :)

Only counts in horseshoes, handgrenades and car fenders!

I'm going with that 1288 Wallace! (Yes I have one) 1385, hm, probably going to be an expensive one this winter...
hunting, I have some 904 crosses, going to have to mull a few of those, hm.

Alex had a heckuva pumpkin there, agreed. In the smaller patch with larger 'kin, have to wonder what 'luv' is lavished, what's the secret... gotta go spy (ahem, visit) more often???

Scroll through Scott's steps to catch occasional glimpses of the wall thickness. Yeah that's Matt DeBacco plucking the seeds. Dave is giving up 1421's for the CTGS&PGA seed auction later this year

Oh and yea,,, car fenders,,,, forgot to add that one in there,,,,,,,,,,?? LOL

Thanks for the pics Steve,,,that 904 Stelts is really going to complement alot of cross's in the next few years I think. Anything with that 904 in its back ground could make a complete difference in how orange will go heavy, and it looks like that its starting to change already. For them orange growers out there this is definitely what they been after and trying to do, is erase the orange and pretty goes light theory.

Brooks, why didn`t you give just me the inside scoop on this seed like you did the 1385 Jutras ?????

I got to see both pumpkins in person and it should be a nice cross Brooks. I don't have room in my patch to give it a fair chance because I want to focus on my own seeds, but I can say Matt Debacco mentioned this cross and if he likes it it must be a good one, both were big and heavy!

We sold all of our 904's at our club's seed auction to benefit our weighoff. Dave has only 5 seeds left now.

If you got 'em, grow 'em!

We did well with the 904 but now it's time to look to her progeny. The old girl is done for us. LOL

The hardest part is actually getting a seed from the 1421.5 to grow next year.

Thanks for the plug on the seed Brooks but I must admit I feel this could be the best cross I have had. It will no doubt be a nice orange seed with plenty of heavy genetics.

I will say the majority will go to clubs and the GPC for their fund raising efforts so please do not send me bubbles. I have been very generous with my seeds in the past and like the issue I have with the 904 right now I run short of seeds for me to plant.

If you will plant the seed send me an e-mail after the middle of January and I will see what I have left. I am sorry if this sounds harsh but if you have ever had 400+ bubble requests in 1 year then you would know the dilemma.
