What are the application rates for humic acid? I asked greensmith company and they said 50# bag for my 400 sq foot area. Any ideas how to get this stuff without paying a fortune in shipping too? Thanks! Jim

There aren't many companies buying the basic material. I'm guessing a California based company must exist.

I'll ask around.

Duster,

Rates are going to vary depending on what product/company you go with. You'll find a huge difference in rates depending on the % of humic acid by content.

I think I can save you some money on shipping, feel free to contact me off-list at [email protected] or 206-351-3011.

As far as companies in CA, you can look into Helena Chemical (they may only be large AG though) and there was another one called "Jim and Bob's Turf" something or other.....I'll try and dig that up.

Hey Jim, hope you can find it locally. I found a local distibutor and even though I had to drive out to farm country to pick it up, it was well worth it as 50 lb bags were only $18 each for granular.

You will find your answer here. Almost of the heavy hitters that I have had contact with, use 10 lbs. per 1,000 square feet. http://www.richearth.net/frequently_asked_questions.php

Lawns, Landscapes & Gardens
Apply Rich Earth™ to fertile soil at a rate of 1 lb. per 100 square feet., 10 lb. per 1000 square feet, or 500 lb. per acre. If soil is of average quality, increase the amount of Rich Earth™ by 50%; if soil is poor, double the amount of Rich Earth™. Mix or till the soil before planting.

I'd say yes there is such thing as too much, but you have a greater margin of error with humic acids than you do with other products like fish or seaweed, etc..

Is there any harm in adding dry humic in Spring and liquid in July, Aug? Anyone who uses humic do this?

I apply liquid about once a month. I even apply through the hose sprayer in the winter to the cover crop.
I have seen my CEC go from 10% to 28% in the last 2 seasons.

Hi North Shore Boyz. I was wondering where you got humic acid around Vancouver. It's hard to find locally.
