A beautiful orange giant pumpkin grown by the John Hilstolsky family of Wyoming, Pennsylvania now resides in the West Wing of the White House. John and his family and a group from PA delivered the pumpkin this morning. It was taken off the truck the old fashioned way, by hand. The pumpkin then had to make its way in. The pumpkin, weighing nearly 1000 pounds, barely made it in through the 48 inch doorway. It was then painted with the logo of the White House by artist Michael Allison of Altoona PA, home of the PGPGA weighoff, and sits on display with nearly 80 smaller pumpkins painted by Judith Sue Meisner. The pumpkins made a great display which will be in residence at the White House for one week, in celebration of the season. I am sure John will have something to say about all of this when he gets home but I can assure you it was a great experience for all of those who made the trip from Pennsylvania to Pennsylvania Avenue. There is a distinct possibility that this could become an annual event. Marv Meisner

Congrats PGPGA,
with the Wisconsin Giant Pumpkin Growers taking 3 pumpkins to the "Trick or Treat" party on the north lawn, organized by the East Wing, hopefully this will become an annual event for the AG community.

Guys, what does all of this have to do with a pumpkin going to the White House? In threads such as this people commenting should stay on topic. Am I wrong? And I am not even a Democrat. The comment by Big Dave, and I am sorry, was way out of line, way out of line in any thread anywhere.

Thank you Marv,

for me anyway, this is all about big pumpkins, kids, and getting some exposure and recognition at the highest level for our hobby.

Dragging all "non related" comments to this board is indeed out of line.

I think an AG at the White House does wonders for the GPC and the sport. Dave, people should only worry if this was a Martyr website.
