I put up a post last week that I was surprised to see that the Hollands placed 1st and 2nd at a GPC weighoff (Useugi Farms). After reading the GPC rules I was of the understanding that there could only be one entry per fixed address at a given GPC site. I guess I was incorrect. I didn't intend to accuse anyone of cheating; I was just surprised that this was allowed at a GPC contest. I know that I wasn't the only one thinking it was a voilation of the rules...but I was the only one who spoke up about it. I'd like to apologize to Mary Lou and anyone else who was offended by my comment. I do, however, think that we need to standardize our rules from one GPC site to another, and I also think that we need to have some sort of a GPC judge (or someone who is trained to uniformly enfore the rules) on site at each GPC event. Last year at Half Moon Bay I was volunteered to be the "judge" when I showed up without a pumpkin (and I ended up having to DQ a pumpkin that belonged to a friend). Rules are good things, but they need to be enforced uniformly if we hope to have any sort of a standardized competitive framework.
