I think Brett's ''lunker'' pumpkin was so light that it blew out of the back of his truck on the way to the weigh off,, maybe he went back to look for it and accidentally drove over it, so then he decided to just go home instead. LOL

I was looking for his ''LUNKER'' but never seen where it was weighed in by him at ether weigh off???, Can you confirm a pumpkin?,,,,,lol

I can't speak for Brett, but I know his club still has the Terminator weighoff. Maybe he got wind of Don Young heading west with his monsters and the Hollands rolling down from Washington with a couple beasts and decided to save his gas money and keep it close to home. There's more pumpkins out there waiting to hit the scales. This amazing year just keeps going.

ahhhh I knew there was a reason, ...I thought maybe he was hes trying to physic growers out from not taking their big ones to ether weigh off,,lol

Be careful with your humor Brooks, I know you are just trying to make a joke, but there seems to be a bit of sarcasm in there too. I know for a fact that Jim personally invited most, if not all of the growers known to have large fruit to the weigh-off. The point of our weigh-off was to attract the largest, hence the big top payout. Please don't belittle the work and accomplishment Jim has done by creating the largest top pay out of any weigh-off in a single year. There was a lot more speculation and sandbagging this year then probably ever before. Did Jim join in, maybe. It was all done in good fun.

And then sometimes.... dreams don't come true and powdery mildew wipes out your entire patch in mid August and nothing grows for two months and you are left with dreaming about next year and having fun doing some reverse sandbagging. Easily my most disappointing year since I started growing back in 1992.
For those who thought I still had a nice one, thank you for giving me a shout out. We will be back next year.

Hope you at least got one for the seeds, Guru..?

Oh we have seeds Okie, but 1089 is all we could do. Our patch was white instead of green from about august 20th until harvest day. Some great crosses though, but the fruit just had no size.

Besides Brooks, I think I eluded to Mr. Starr having a lunker lurking. I was just speculating based upon his past results. Unlike you folks in the midwest, we don't let every grower in the world cruise through our patches to help determine what we are going to do. We like surprises! By the way Thad did have 1 more big one (1301 lbs), he just took it to Seaside instead (oh and by the way, beat me again!)lol

" Unlike you folks in the midwest, we don't let every grower in the world cruise through our patches to help determine what we are going to do"
Whatever the Midwest is doing sure seems to be working. Glad you like surprises....

PGVG did a first class job at the Bauman Farm weigh-off. Tree Doc as MC and Starr in the pitts with Neal forklifting. (almost sounds dirty) Ths was a well run event. My wife and I, and the now Shoreline winner (35% heavy) came down from Wa. hoping to see some of the 1500 pound stuff. Close with Starr. Those that missed it, missed a great event. Christy can bring her 1800 pounder next year.

Thad, Be careful for my humor or what???
for one, How about getting a clue on what I'm posting about before you open your mouth and make any accusations,, you have no idea what this post was intended for, certainly not for you to run your mouth about, its definitely something you have no idea about thats between Jim , Brett and I. Just to let you in on whats going on since you have no clue what this post is about,,, NO sarcasm was intended, lighten up. It was truly all in fun and not to be little any one in a mean way what so ever.

And two,,, everything your saying about what you think I'm thinking isn't even close. Jim and Brett both know I was joking 100% and I would never put a grower down for any reason, especially if they have bad luck in their growing season.
My post wasn't entended to be little anyone. So Don't put words in my mouth Chad, cause your not even close to what my post was intended to be about.

Brooks, I understand you were trying to be funny and of all people, I get it. I must admit I wasn't sure where you were going with the post and perhaps read into it initially more than was intended too. Maybe with all that has been going on we are all getting a little 'thin skinned'. Quite often it is very hard to show the emotion or original intent in a bp post. Even putting 'lol' can be overused at times.

Let's just move on and not make this more than it has already, unfortunately, has become. Next time Brooks, just bring your big @#$M%# pumpkin out here instead of Don and maybe we'll send you home with some big cash!(maybe) 'lol'

No hard feelings for you at all Jimmy, but never in a million years would I have thought a post like this would go this far. I guess I better lighten up a little and be more serious. I never would have thought that a post like this that I intended to be fun would get miskinswed into somehow belittling you hard work, just by asking where Brett's pumpkin was?
I was just getting a kick out of Brett trying to decide which weigh off he was going to bring his big one to, just so he could get you guys wound up, and thinking a little.

Nothing more or nothing less was intended for this post, it was all in fun towards Brett, but mostly towards you Jim because of your reaction to Brett's post about bringing a lunker pumpkin in a earlier post.

You hardly ever post on here anymore and I wanted to get what I thought was going to be a a really fun hilarious reaction back from you, but somehow it was turned around 180 degrees to something I never would have expected from a certain grower to turn this posting upside down.
To tell ya the truth I had to read it a couple times just to see what I said wrong to get a reaction like that,,lol

Thanks Jim
Brooks
