If anyone is going to beat Christy's world record say so now and give her a break. I'll even sweeten the deal, say so now and do it at your weigh-off and I'll stop growing AGs for good. You'll get rid of me for good.

jack anticipation is part of the winning game. thats part of the hobby. you always sweat out a big pumpkins status even at the local level of competition. either way she did it in my book.she was the first. pap

Richard, that is poor taste. The BS stops when the tailgate drops. Lots to go wrong or go light in any and all contenders remaining.
I am sure Doc does not appreciate comments like that either. Let him worry about his pumpkin and what it weighs.

Anyone hear about a pumpkin growing in Japan that is said to be near the 2000 pound mark and there are several smaller ones there that may be around 1800 pounds?

Ohh yeah, they had one that was taping 500 OTT, it had great shape and bright orange too, it also was thumping like concrete, would have been 20% heavy for sure.
Then Godzilla ate it and so there is not official weight.

I completely agree with Pap, anyone can look at a pumpkin and take a wild guess at what it will weigh but the truth is told on the scale only. Guess we'll all just have to wait and see. Until then Christy holds the crown.

Pap, you'd know as well as anyone. The suspense is killing me this year because I have a daughter and it would be good for her sake and girls everywhere to have Christy hold on to the world record. I'm eating humble pie to my daughter and her girlfriends that all we guys got beat by a girl. I agreed there's nothing left for us guys to do, except invest in a pair of nose and glasses. I want Christy to hold on to the world record because I'm going to hate to see their disappointed faces if she doesn't.

Christy, you are the worlds champion.. and no matter what happens , you will always be a worlds champion. so let her ride the glory train, (she earned it) weather its a short ride or a long ride. but remember one thing , she's driving the train everyone else is just a passenger. Good luck Christy, and Good luck Doc..

Congrats & way to go Christy!! I am in awe of what you've accomplished this season! I think it's great to have young women such as yourself amongst us, learning, competing and coming out on top. It gives us all a higher mark to work towards. (sure makes my paltry 300 pounder look pretty wimpy! :-) Gives me hope though that next year maybe even I could grow a really big one.

No harm intended here but Doc Liggett is NOT an underdog by any means. He has made great strides in growing giants and has made quite name for himself. My hats off to him or Christy or anyone else who gets the biggest. Besides, this is the first time in my six years of being on this site of hearing ANYONE cheer for one person to beat another (except in total joking situations). I hope this is not what the future of the site will be all about. Christy is a great grower and it sucks knowing her or anyone else would have to see this kind of crap here. I'm sure Doc would feel the same way.

LMAO, this thread has made me laugh out loud and raise and eyebrow at the same time, (no pun intended dave). I think when your reading words and not seeing someone's face or there body's it's kinda hard to understand what there trying to say. Me and North have been through this whole kinda thing before. I don't belive we should take people's post SO serious. Down south we say BITCH all the time, to men and women. It's kind of a term of enderment. If my friend walks up I say "whats up bitch". If I were to say that to someone in a post they would cuss me out. We all have our favorite growers and the one's we want to break the record, however you sure don't want to be eating crow if you have talk all this smack and your guys bust. This is a big time of the year for folks in this sports, and compition is part of it, I just don't think we should kill someone because his post doesn't hit us like he ment it to. One thing is CERTAIN, we have a new WORLD CHAMION, who beat EVERY grower thus far in the world. If she gets beat next week, no one can take away the fact that she was at one time in history the best there is.

Christy is the world champ. Some guys have a hard problem in life when a female out does a male. Some guys can handle a female growing something much bigger then what he can do. I have son's, daughters, grandson's, and grand daughter's. if anyone of then do something great, I support them all and equally. Christy has done something that none of us have every done. I would have loved to been at Ohio go give her a big hug and told her, Your the greatest!!!!!!!!!!

its pumpkin growing. a gardening hobby that everyone can compete without disadvantage. ( if you can study and learn of course )and are not afraid of a lot of work. dirty finger nails on a woman are just as dirty as a mans.
its not a weight lifting competition, or any other test of strength. we growers dont strap on equipment and crash into each other . we dont soar several ft in the air to dunk a ball, and we certainly dont make changes that effect the future of civilization.
what some of us do is grow to be the best. some just for the fun of it and that ok to. either way?, its an honor when you can finish at or near the top of your hobbies heap.
what this young lady did was nothing short of fantastic.the orange jacket will look very good on her as the top grower in the gpc.
