Monster is resting quietly in patch under her duvet, waiting her moment of greatness. Having been uncovered, felt up good, thumped, peered at and measured, she was once more tucked in for the night. OTT and chart indicates 685.75# if the tape hasn't shrunk. Other signs indicate 'tis time' for her to meet the scale. She may make a visit to the 5-State Cimarron Weighoff for exhibition, but. Pat I hope you can make pie crust, else you're going to be in for some ROUGH chewing there.

Deb, if you really are going to settle this, then your pumpkin logically needs to be weighed at an official event like the Cimarron Weighoff you are involved with.

Why...would you have it only for exhibition at a certified event? That does not make any locical sense at all.

If you seriously think you can best the new Oklahoma record set by Pat, then you need to do it in an open setting at a recognized event....otherwise claiming the crown is going to be difficult.

You are cordially invited to come on down and help. I would love to wait to the 17th but I have some reasons I discovered earlier this evening (5th) that means she has to go now.

Yes it is showing some structural integrity issues that are only going to get worse. I have paid the forklift and arranged the witnesses and invited the press. About 6 pm Central time it will be Showtime in the backyard here. It should a) still pass an inspection that will be performed by someone else using GPC rules and GPC approved pokers/prodders; and b) be liftable without becoming 'compost' or voiding approval under a) and c) hopefully come in over tape estimate like it's heritage says (say, 10%) All I need is 685.5 pounds!

I agree with Glenn 100%, get it to a GPC weigh off if you want the weight official and eligible for a POSSIBLE record Debbie,,then you won't have any arguments from anyone

When It comes to a state record, I would think a certified scale is a must! Is the scale being used certified for the year?

Best of luck to you on getting that fruit weighed before it deteriorates on you.

I would also assume you would need a neutral body there with the proper knowledge to do a fruit inspection.

Trust me butterflies and sweat are rampant.

Heavy Equipment, press and witnesses due in about 3 hours or so... I just had a major nosebleed so a break.

I'd love to make it to an official weighoff with it but it decided otherwise. Have been clearing patch and behind fence and about to take fence down and put down the plywood for the forklift.

Brodie and many others have weighed outside official GPC, I'm joining their ranks. The official judge has been assured that she can bust my pumpkin and I might cry but if it doesn't pass muster, DQ it. Just as if we were 11 days later at the official weighoff!

Thanks for the support, and toes crossed here. It either goes or it doesn't. I'll know by 7 pm central if it's Pat or I eating the pie for dinner.

Even if I don't make it, it's been a helluva ride and a fun summer, the trash talking and the support, has been awesome. So thanks everyone, even if I don't get to hang a blue and yellow ribbon on her.

Yes scale is trade certified. Expires Sept 30, 2010. To NIST standards. Scale will be used at the GPC weighoff here 17 Oct. Someone else is official on decision if fruit is sound, she is on checkin crew for our weighoff. Dept of Ag rep as another witness. Plus Press. [To Pumpkin Picker]
