That's true Martin, but Bill won the Windsor weigh off with a new Atlantic Canadian record. Also won the Howard Dill Award. It is a VERY large beautiful pumpkin.

Exactly Andy........I saw the Hunt pumpkin hit the scales.... the new Canadian Record...

Like the States we keep track of provincial records as well as Regional Records.....and this amazing pumpkin is from the ATLANTIC Region of our AMAZING Country....

As well...after reading the GPC results....I would like to correct my post and send my Congratulations out to Dawn as well...sorry Dawn.....

We knew he had a big one when the hydraulics locked up on the tractor getting it out of the truck. Took a second tractor to take some of the weight off the first to get the forks down.

Congrats to Bill & Dawn,what a great Pumpkin! Personaly I am surprised that it won the Howard Dill Award as there was a far better looking but much smaller pumpkin there. I don't know who judged the award, but it wouldn't have been my choice. Yes nice and orange ( Northrup Style ) but shape? It looked like an arm chair! not what I would call pretty, still each to their own.

I completely agree with the selection as the Howard Dill award. There were other more orange pumpkins there, but they were lacking the shape. It was a bit of a toss up in my mind, but I'd take decent colour and a perfect shape from one view over better colour and no shape any day.

Diana's entry would have had my vote for the Howard Dill award but no matter. There were two categories for a good looking pumpkin. The "most perfect pumpkin" ( non GPC ) and the contenders for the HD award. If you entered the new category you were not eligible for the other. The 1st two links show the winer of the "most perfect" and the last two links show Bill's 1432. Both deserving of their respective awards.
