Every time I try to grow my own seeds the pumpkins are deformed and split easily. I guess I cannot make a good cross.

You make a great point Eddy. Why go to the trouble of obtaining top notch seeds, making a top notch cross, and never bother growing it because it only weighed in at 600 or 700 pounds? Grow your own seeds!
