I see many photos of growers covering their fruit with tarps while transporting them to weighoffs if its raining?
Is this helpful in any way or not neccessary?

Also keeps down traffic accidents as a mass of cars jockey into position to see your giant pumpkin as you hall it down the road. Lol

i like the tarp if we have a contender and the trip is a hour or more or else you would loose a few pouinds during travel.
if its raining the water on the fruit during a long ride is a good thing.so i go uncovered in the rain.
some contenders have also been known to put a wet blanket over the fruit then cover and tie in good with a plastic tarp.
