WOW looks like with all the big fruit in the Midwest there is 1 weigh-off you can take your monster and make sure you get good money for it.
You even get to take your pumpkin home with you that day.

That's a nice incentive to get a few more big ones in town!
What about the pretty ones??
Has the OVGPG ever considered making a top 3 for the prettiest pumpkin? I know there is the Howard Dill award for the prettiest pumpkin, but I think having a top 3 could make pretty orange growing a little more competitive. Heck you don't even need to do a cash prize for second and 3rd I am sure a ribbon would make most orange growers very happy!

2 thumbs up to Mr. Stelts!!! Being able to take yer pkn home the same day is something that all sites should consider!!! Folks who drive a long distance are reluctant to bring a giant to a site where they have to leave their prize pkn for a week or more!!!! The grower is out of contact w/their hard work during the year, and has to make the trip to the w/off site twice!!! Peace, Wayne

Well said Wayne. But the GPC allows each site to make its own rules. I agree that not being able to take your Fruit home the same day deters some of us from considering certain weigh-offs.

i think there should be a bigger payout--lol
great idea and should make a lot of each seasons top growers reconsider where to bring anything they feel could go 1,400 and up.
there were always top prize payouts out west and now theres some big money available in ohio.
will all roads on the east coast now lead to parks garden center? stay tunes it wont be long and we will know?
