some growers during a heavy or even light froast morning do go with overhead misting every half hr or so from arount 4 am to 6am it all depends on how much you want to put into it. even with a frost your pumpkin if its still growing now should contine to gain modestly for a week or so after a frost kill. if it were me and i had a small fruit that i did not think i would compete with? id just blanket the pumpkin (for sure) and ride out the next couple weeks.

For a light frost placing sheets of Remay or even large platic sheets of 4 mil over the entire vine can help ward off the frost and let the ground temp help the mini-greenhouse retain some warmth. Not a bad idea for that one pumpkin that you are trying to get to the weigh-off.
