Well, it finally happened, the stem split on my largest fruit went into the cavity. Seeds collected, cows fed, grower bummed. At least I have a backup fruit and though none of them are much to brag about, it's still disappointing when it's the one thats the largest and growing the fastest. This is what happens in September. I was hoping it wouldn't go all the way and had done nothing to slow the fruit down and maybe it wouldn't have helped anyway but now I'm second guessing myself. I'll post in the diary once the photo's are downloaded. I just wanted to vent a little here. 303" OTT when last measured on Sunday. There were a fair number of big thick seeds. I hate having seeds drying in September.

Your right pap, thank goodness for the Seahawks. I grew up a Browns fan and that doesn't do much good for anyone these days.

Happened to me too! 307 OTT 4 days ago. Have tried for 2 days to stop it & dry it out. Last night I took a flashlight to the split and it was black... took a foot long skewer and pushed it in gently hoping to hit some flesh.... but nope took the whole thing in and could wiggle it side to side. In the Cavity! Those heavy rains we had the days before didnt do me any favors. Oh well! There is always next year!

stem splits are the worst they keep leading you on thinking maybe it will make it then at last few days go through.Thats what happened on my 1490 last year split on august 10 i babied it till last day and it split on way to show through stem.Jerry
