If you have trouble tying knots like I do sometimes when the time comes in lifting your pumpkin, here is a great web site that shows you step by step on how tie knots. Its kinda neat because it shows you in graphic detail on how to do it.

Good grief! Who'd ever thunk there were so many knots!
So which is the best one to tie the bottom strap?
I always use the good old square knot!

Try helping the Boy Scouts earn their merit badges. YIKES! LOL. When I first got my arborist license all the climbing & rigging knots were on the test. I'd forgotten most of them until agreeing to help the troop.

I use the Palomer knot with the new Fireline (fused) but otherwise the standard fisherman's knot works for low stress situations.

Hey we are needing that knot that would release a 1000 lb pumpkin 8 stories in the air....Pretty nerve racking. I saw this in Canby weig off.....Scarry but we are going to try it this year......HELP

A remote control noose would work......

WIZ, it's easiest if you can hang on the bottom of the pumpkin and cut the gathering strap with a knife. You have to get it right the first try though.

I use the Palomer Knot, but otherwise fisherman's knot works also good.
I think you would do well to read more at
