I'm experiencing the same problem! The stem is rotting away, I expect it to fall completely off in the next days.. hoping a few threads will remain to feed the fruit. The vines and leaves all look healthy, I have no idea why it is rotting. What should one do in this situation? (NW Iowa)

scrape away any rotted tissue, spray the area with a 10% bleach solution, let it sit for a minute or two, dry with paper towel, apply a dry fungicide like sulphur powder or captan (if a liquid fungicide then straight from the bottle undiluted), put a fan on it if you can until it dries.

The stem on mine has nearly completely rotted through, there's no drying or scraping away to be done! Did I just miss my window of opportunity, or something else going on? The vine at the stem looks fine, the pumpkin itself appears fine & solid (although there's a strong smell near the stem area). Any suggestions? Thanks!
