Who are growing the 1568 Connoly and how does it perform?

Minnesota

I grew one this year and it went flatvine, the pumpkins avaiable at the time on the plants sidevines aborted. I pulled the plant. I went with a plant that was intended for pollination only.

I grew it . It was a very strong and fast growing plant but couldn't keep a pumpkin on it . They all would split around the the stem in a circular pattern. Don't know why they did it but tried 5 different pumpkins on it and none of them could stay together. The plant was a nice green plant that took up a 25x30 area with not to many other problems

i grew a world record on it but could not get a large scale to weigh it on so i cut up the pieces and weighed it on my bathroom scale. it was 1789 pounds.

Oh yea Pap? ,,,, well I grew a world record on it also, but I cut mine up into smaller pieces and weighed it on a certified tomato weighing scale, and mine weighed 1789 lbs.
So unless your bathroom scales are certified(which I doubt they are) then tie goes to the guy with the certified scale when cutting pumpkins into pieces when weighing, ,,so Nannieee, Nannieee, poooo pooooo

We had 4 people from SE MN grow the seed....2 people were able to get a pumpkin set .... 2 people were not...they would just keep aborting over and over again. Seems there are some interesting genetics involved as both growers were able to set all the rest of their pumpkins...ie...just not the 1568.

I've got a 1568 Connolly growing a nice fruit on the main. It taped at 653 lbs a few days ago. My fruit tends to weep out of small surface splits (probably like what eastkypumpkin says), but it's holding together just fine (so far).

Hi Drikus:
I got a good one going on the 1568. Crossed it with the 1450 Wallace. I just put a picture of it in the Photo Gallery for you to see. (type in: 2009 1568, and it should come up). I know you plant your seeds in a month, while we are in our Winter season. Best of luck this year.
