Why did my Pumpkin start to grow back up again. I didn't do anything to it and it stopped growing after the huge rain. Now today it crew a few inches. Could the plant have been in shock do to the huge amount of water it was given or is it toying with me? I just don't understand.....

oh the trials and tribulations of kenny and the giant pumpkin.

kenny if your still in the hobby after a few years you will experience many amazing things.you are experiencing things
that many others before you have already been through.

a lot of things go into why a pumpkin may seem to stop and then start up again.
most times it is because the grower measured wrong in the first place.
people that constantly measure every couple of days have this problem. measure once a week and then once the measurements stop? they dont start up again.

I have so much to learn. Of coarse you know Pap that from now on I'm gonna really be a pain in the you know what to the organization. Also a great supporter....I ordered a carrying tarp for the pumpkin and this weekend I'll get the pallet done...... I'm so stoked. the pumpkin is growing. But It has a weeping crack. small one. will that not allow me to get it weighed?

If its just on the surface and it doesent go all the way into the seed cavity then it is legal.

Pack the crack with sulfur or Captan. Fix a fan on it 24/7 (if possible) to keep it dry.

Rick is correct. If the crack breaches the interior the fruit will be DQed

When is your weighoff?

Oct. The crack is only surface. Its weeping lightly. I'm not worried about a dq. I'm worried about getting more growth. I think i'm gonna lay off the water and no more potash. Just some neptunes on the leaves for the rest of the season. What do you guys think?

Be careful. Sometimes when they are going down they start to sag and appear to be "growing" as the OTT can actually increase. I hope this is not your fate.
