Way to go, Scott!!! Nice looking rutabagas too, for a rutabaga...

Nice to see the previous dubious world record cabbage fell too!

There might be more WRs falling this year.

I have updated the EGVGA world record site.

Congrats Scott on another world record! I was there to witness the event first hand. The beast was built like an anvil, probably would have bent a nail had one tried to hammer one in it. I will post some shots in my diary later today. You the man Scott!!!

Great job, now who's gonna eat it? Does anyone actually eat those things? I know I've never had one that I know of and wouldn't know what to do with one if I had it. What do you do with a rutabaga? MMM-MMM I just gotta get me some rutabaga. I'm craving rutabaga. Pass that thing over here, let me get my fork. That's cool though, a world record of any kind is a great accomplishment.

Congrats Scott. Till fyi.. They are actually especially good tasting. Closely related to it's cousin the turnip. White Brewtser Turnips are especially good. White flesh verses yellow and much sweeter. Most often served with game. A staple of a traditional New England Thanksgiving Dinner. They store very well. Properly prepped and stored in a root celar or cool pantry they will keep over the winter. Early settlers planted them as a second crop, often after strawberries were picked. Turnip get planted in early July.

Great information. I do have a root cellar so maybe next year I'll try some. My father in law loves turnips. Have you ever grown Gilfeather turnips? Thanks Scott.
