Is there a way to jumpstart a stalled pumpkin to get it growing again? One of my pumpkins has been growing in spurts all summer, but the latest spurt hasn't come. It is around 600 lbs now and has been for a week. How long should I hold out hope that it will get going again?

Thanks, I was afriad of that. I've got a month until weigh off, should I just leave it on the vine until then? The plant looks healthy otherwise.
It's not over for me though. I've still got one trucking away on another plant that has passed the one that stopped.

Is there anything that can be done to make the plant respond i'm having the same problem. I'd like to make sure i exaust all means before i throw the towel. Why does the fruit stop growing when you have a decent plant and healthy plant?

pumpkins are a lot like human beings. some live a lot longer than others . some grow big and tall, some short and fat, and some dont grow much at all. to many factors and reasons that contribute to list here. chances are if you pollinated your pumpkins in early july it should be growing still to this date.if not sometimes ya gotta look at your soil, growing system, and over all weather.

Weather is a big one.
Teps hitting the 40s all last week have slown down growth of mine. I had a late start, and a late DOP.
Cold weather sets in and kicked me in the pills.

do not say it is over until you have waited one week between measurements. i treat the pumpkins as if still growing and do everything the same as long as there are healthy leaves. i looked out at a stalled pumpkin today from my window and see ridges, humps, and bumps forming while it still is maturing. it was done i thought 3 days ago. obvious ridges now that are becoming more pronounced that might noth show up in the ott at the place you are taking measurements. shoulder areas thicken and so do addlebags not affected by ott measurem, ents. do not give up on the pumpkin putting on those final bumps and lumps as the final maturation approaches.
