Is mounding sand/soil around a pumpkin with a sag line a good or bad idea? How high up on the pumpkin would be "safe" (loosely used term I know;) to bury? Has anyone had any amount of success reversing a sag line with this or any other method?...besides "grow another one" (I see you typing Mr.T;)

I'd like to hear from someone who actually had a big pumpkin that made it to a 'real' weigh off:o)...900 lbs in the Bahamas...baah-humbug;)

packing some sand around the botton sides of the fruit helps in that area but sag lines most of the time run completely around the pumpkin from side to side.
not much to do but cross your fingers and hope.
the less daily gains the better once a deep sag line intersects with a rib, especially a deep rib.

Has anyone ever considered putting some type of belt around the fruit to reinforce it? I haven't dealt with the problem myself, but it's something I would consider if I did.

I wonder if a ratchet strap would be better than just a tarp with a knot....Great idea though...the Jarvis Hug...I like it...GVGO inovation again!

Had the ratchet strap on...didn't like the thickness or the metal. This is a 'ratchet knot' being applied with a double layered tarp belt...kinda mudled with the tucking in of access ends...Definitely in the prototype stage. I'll let ya know how it goes;)
