Is mounding sand/soil around a pumpkin with a sag line a good or bad idea? How high up on the pumpkin would be "safe" (loosely used term I know;) to bury? Has anyone had any amount of success reversing a sag line with this or any other method?...besides "grow another one" (I see you typing Mr.T;)

I would think you should keep as much soil away from the fruit as possible. soil pathogens and disease from parasites..That's what I've been told maybe sand could be used I've seen a lot of the veteran growers with plenty of sand mounded. I tend to be a little paranoid with dirt being around the pumpkin at all....
