Hey guys, I have a pumpkin that is wheel shaped but leaning towards the stem side. What is the best way to measure these wheels that are not laying like a donut.

CC is no problem. Over the top- do you follow the contour of a wheel that is leaning? If not then I start off at the top and go down on both side into the air. Side to side is also an issue being that the pumpkin is up and not touching the ground on both sides.

No SS and EE are plumb or square to the ground. Biggest measurement both ways....perpindicular to each other.

I agree with Chris. I've got a wheel going that is leaning almost on it's blossom end. I haven't measured it in awhile. When I do, I plan on following the same measuring rules, as when I measure my other pumpkins. If you follow the contour of a leaning wheel, you'll end up with a greater measurement than going straight down.

i have the same issue man, stem leaning towards ground. stem is right side in this picture. i measure highest point blossom/stem and then 90 degrees mesure straight down side/side.

I pick the spot to start from and drop tape left and make sure it goes straight down, over that center top and to other side straight down. At stem next to it, straight down which may mean an air drop, then over top and across the blossom end, even if it may be an air drop or air over the 'innie' then a touch then straight down. CC, just as if it was a normal pumpkin sitting like it should. Stem and rear may have some tape across air from innie crossing. BE CONSISTENT is as important as anything. Always measure the same way along the same routes.
My 1357 Ghaye is a slightly rear up stem down, long wheel. I try to stick to the guidelines on how to measure a pumpkin no matter what the shape. Cowpie, blimp, peanut, wheel, on face, it doesn't matter.

I had the same too. It split and I weighed it on the bathroom scale (digital) and it was 3% light to the OTT. CC was always parallel to the ground around it's widest point. EE/SS perpendicular to each other, just like a normal pumpkin.
