I have noticed recent posts with their wntire patch covered with a tent of it. I would like to know if there has been any significant diffirence in growth using it to trap in the heat. I might consider doing that next year especially since the last 3 summers have been cold. Also I could keep the temperature more constant.Has the wind affected the tent by ripping it? I have a ton of wind at my patch area.

Nic, I belive your talking about shade fabic. It's used mainly by growers in EXTREME heat zone's. It's helps with sunburn on leaves, fruit ect.

if its white and over a whole plant it is more than likey floating row cover or Remay fabric. It is supposed to keep some heat in. There are a couple thickness' that vary the amount of retention. I dont know about the wind tearing it up though.

The product in question is Reemay and it was ordered in large rolls as most retail sizes are 8' x 50'. The cost to do one plant would be approx. $100 retail I believe. It seems to be raising the daytime temps at least 5 degrees Celcius from what I hear.

Johnny's Selected Seed has Agribon-19 in a 30' x 100' roll for $70. I've had a roll for 5 years and have reused the stuff over and over..It's the same as Remay, maybe a bit stronger but just as light. I raised my daytime temp by 20 degrees covering the whole plant with it a few years ago.
