Great read Tremor, thanks for the article.
I tried getting a hold of Norm last year to plant some more of his tall corn seed for this year but couldn't get a hold of em. He sent me some the year before and boy did I have the tallest corn I have ever seen, it sure was a blast to grow.
I Tell ya some more fun tall corn to grow and thats Mexican June corn and Jali tall corn(spelling?). Ray Waterman sent me seeds from P&P and they grew enormous also, says the Mexican June corn usually gets about 16 feet tall, but mine are way taller then that. I have a few pics of the corn in my diary, its in the back ground of a couple pumpkin pics I put in.
Another thing I have found with that Mexican June corn is that it makes a excellent wind break, with the strong storms we had this year not one was broken or knocked over. They must root alot deeper then my Indian corn is all I can figure.
Sorry for rambling,,lol

We grew tall corn in 2007 - 24' as I recall. No great record but we did win the fair. Great fun.

Give me a break! The article says that Norm has 14 of the tallest 50 corn stalks. Does anyone know where the list came from? He is the one that compiled the list!!!!!!! He asked me who had corn stalks over 20 ft. because he was putting a list together of the 50 tallest corn stalks. I know plenty of people who had corn stalks that should be in the list. I know at least 4 people (including myself) that have had corn several feet over 20 ft. Granted, there are no official measurements for any of them, but there is no doubt they are over 20 ft.
After he gets done with the top 50 corn stalks then maybe he'll put the a list together of the top 50 sexiest guys.
1. George Clooney 2. Brad Pitt 3. Norm Craven .. etc.
Haha!

Peace I read somewhere about cutting a small place partially through and folding it over. As long as it wasent cut completly through it could be unfolded and measured.
