My pumpkin growth this year has been a little disappointing. I made quite a few improvements to my patch this year which I would of expected to result in bigger pumpkins. One of the improvements I made was installing new under canopy sprinklers and have done all my fert feeding through these sprinklers. In looking back at differences between this year and last I realized that I have done no foliage feeding at all this season (beyond what is provided by the under canopy sprinklers hitting the back of the leafs). What do you think, it is possible that the lack of thorough "over canopy" fertilization (which I have done in previous years) could be holding me back?

You need a tissue test & the soil test report to know for sure.

Thank you Tremor. You know I did a tissue test a few weeks ago and nothing showed up that was lacking. It is probably time I do another.

I'm just wondering if you've been over-fertilizing. A tissue test won't tell you that, but a soil test would. Once you're satisfied with your pre-plant amendments, very little fertilizer should be required.
