Ok it seems some mice have decided to set up shop inside my compost pile. At this point the compost is close to being done and I'd hate to turn it anymore until being dug into the garden so as not to lose any nitrogen to gassing off. I've been battling mice nesting in some nearby bushes with some mice killing bait and it seems to have worked some, but once they found the compost pile I think they abandoned the old nest. But now I'm worried that using these bait packs around the compost pile could lead to the mice contaminating the compost with the stuff. I could just let them be so they can keep pooping in the pile but then I run the risk of having them try and burrow under my pumpkins, they already gave me a scare by trying it once but they abandoned it. Can anyone give me some advice as what to do? Thanks in advance. Brian

I would leave them be, they will aeriate your compost for you and keep it going. Once you spread the compost on your patch they will run away scared as hell. No point risking the poison application with all the other things it could affect. Just my opinion. Good luck.

I wish my cats did, but there too old and lazy now, lol. I guess I'll just let the mice be for now so long as they stay away from the pumpkins. Anyone know where I can find some mothballs?
