I'm going to try to get either dry cow manure or composted cow manure soon. Any idea how much is too much (/100 sq ft) to add to a never before amended patch with only 3% OM currently?

good question, salt content would be my only concern if you went crazy with manure

I used to use LOTS of manure and I split LOTS of fruit. I added LOTS of vegetable matter compost ( without any manure) and don't seen to have that problem any more. Too much nitrogen is not a good thing.

I added 72 yds to 10,000 square feet last fall. That might have been too much.

6-8 inches deep on a previously un-amended patch would be fine. Then add all sorts of other organic matter, leaves, other compost, clippings, rotten vegtables etc. Finish it off by planting a cover crop.

naww, never get to much if your going to be adding it now, especially with your OM only being 3% , I just wouldn't add very much in the spring if it was me.

In the fall it's great. In the spring, be aware.

and make sure its old and composted, I added quite a bit this spring and got good results this year, but I am going to try to add it the second these plants are done this fall.

I put 18 yards in my 2100 sq ft patch last year. 3 years old the manure was.

If you read information about what the heavy hitters do, most of then only put on four cubic yards per plant site. Sometimes to much of anything isn't a good thing.
