COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - A new state record for largest pumpkin has been set -- by 268 pounds!

Tina and Frank Finder met on bigpumpkins.com. Since then, the two have dedicated the growing season to the oversized jack-o-lanterns.

Last year, in August, 2008, the Finder's set a state record with a pumpkin weighing in at 897 pounds. That broke the record set in 2006, a pumpkin weighing 737 pounds.

The final weight for this season's prized pumpkin came in at a staggering 1,165 pounds. That's over half a ton of pumpkin!

And despite breaking into the 1,000 pound pumpkin club, the two say this is just the beginning.

Frank Finders says he was "very anxious to bring them here. It's a hour ride, and your heart starts beating faster and faster, and when it's all over, it's great. You are very happy, but its kind of sad, too, 'cause the season is over."

The Finders aren't just pumpkin growers, they also have a huge watermelon that weighed in at 155 pounds.
