I have one plant with 4 secondaries(two on each side) before the fruit still growing. I've trained them to run in the direction of the mainvine. My thinking is that what little they might be taking away from pumpkin growth(if any), they will hopefully more than make up for in late season fruit growth. My pumpkins have about 40 days to go until weighoff, so these extra newer leaves could come in handy come September. I'm thinking of having all secondaries terminated in about 10 days. I'd like to hear your opinions regarding my reasoning.

Need to know other factors to give my opinion ! But id say general rule is to have everything terminated by the time pumpkin is at 30 days- up to 35 days old ,MAX !!! PS what you think is not taking away from pumpkin , may not be true , I have found , by my own experiments , Iv had to cut off 5 ft of secondary's to boost the daily gains !!

My two competition pumpkins are 42 days old today. Thanks for your input Fissssh. Maybe I better start terminating those last secondaries. Any other opinions out there?
