Does anyone have a spread sheet whose wieghts match what the current 2008 GPC OTT charts indicate?

I have the pumpkin growth trackers that can be found on the GVGO website, but these are using the outdated 2005 GPC OTT charts. I am looking for one using the 2008 OTT charts.

Thanks!

Thanks Pete. But I am looking for a spreadsheet where you can type in your info, and have it calcualte your wieghts for you. Just like the pumpkin growth tracker one at GVGO site, but up to date.

It uses the same formula as the 2005 version.

I sent a spread sheet to Andy W last night and he posted it up in the resources page of the GPC web site. This sheet was originally designed by Joe Alits as part of the first 1000 Benchmark Study he and I did a few years ago.

The new sheet does not have any embedded formulas but instead you can manually enter all of your data. I play around with my spread sheets all of the time. Its fun to she how they are growing compared to the benchmarks.

I am also sending Andy a copy of the revised 2009 Landry becnkmark file that I have been sitting on for a bit. He may get it post on the web site tonight. As always with my files they are free of charge for all growers to share and distribute. Please feel free to post them on your sites and publish them in newsletters.

The 2005 OTT chart is in fact not outdated it is the only means we have for estimation that has been published for use. The new 450 OTT chart released in 2008 is merely an extension of the 2005 chart.

Thanks Russ. If, as you say the 2005 chart is still good, I guess my next question is why the 2005 and the 2008 charts have different weights for the same OTTS?

I am not sure what is going on here? Which one do we use to calculate heavy or light fruit. There is a big difference between the two. Obivously right now, I favor the one that results in my pumpkin being the heaviest!

Thanks for the help!

And a big thanks to the GVGO website for all the files and help. A great site for all us pumpkin Growers!

Well, if I can attempt to answer based on my understanding (which might not be complete), the 2008 addition was to include the highest "new" OTT numbers and make the equations more accurate for high OTT. What does that do for the rest of the space? Well, it probably changes it slightly. Are those changes for the smaller fruits correct? Hmmm...

One other point that ought to be made,... as we go through time in this hobby, are we not selecting the heaviest and thickest fruits to be preserved for future generations? If walls are really getting thicker, then our equations would need to shift over time as well.

Maybe once this season is done we can look at it again. I'd like to help out on any committee. I'd also like to come up with an equation (or look-up table) that would be usable on mobile devices.

Cliff is right on the money. I extended the chart out based on a request from growers that had started to exceed the 420 OTT number. Any other changes are merely a typo of mine.

I sent Andy a new sheet this afternoon so he may have it up on the web site tonight. The new Pumpkin Pacer 1200 has the OTT numbers inserted.

Here are the new 2009 Landry Benchmarks to reach 1200.

Benchmark Goal 25" CC Day 10 or 60" OTT
Benchmark Goal 75" CC Day 20 or 160" OTT
Benchmark Goal 120" CC Day 30 or 250" OTT
Benchmark Goal 145" CC Day 40 or 320" OTT
Benchmark Goal 160" CC Day 50 or 355" OTT
Benchmark Goal 170" CC Day 60 or 375" OTT
Benchmark Goal 175" CC Day 70 or 390" OTT
Benchmark Goal 178" CC Day 80 or 395" OTT

I will be starting a new 1400 pound benchmark study this fall. I will post up an contribution sheet to growers here on BP the GPC & GVGO web sites as well as send out a mass email to 1400 pound growers in early October.

There is work now being done on a new updated Stellpflug chart by a very enthusiastic young math student. I hope he will publish the results by next spring. The new chart will need all the information we can get. Please contribute this coming fall.

since the post is hijacked,,lol

Russ, how many fruit are used as data on the 1200# chart?

are these strickly 1200-1299# fruit?

will you list the largest and smallest numbers again as you have in the past?

this is always a fun time of the year,,crunching past personal numbers and comparing current measurements to them and to these charts,,,thanks for the continued efforts

Dan LOL, I dream about the numbers all the time too.

I do have the information but I never kept track of it since it was not part of my focus. I will include it in the new results for next years results. They are really not changed all that much from the 2008 marks.

A quick count shows that the data is based on 40 pumpkins from 1200 to 1600 pounds with the majority of them at 1286 or below.

Here is a quick glance.

The smallest Day 40 fruit ever to reach 1200 pounds was 302" OTT

The smallest Day 50 fruit ever to reach 1200 pounds was 320" OTT

The smallest Day 60 fruit ever to reach 1200 pounds was 345" OTT
