if you dont have a pumpkin set on the vine yet then theres no point in training a new vine, try and set a fruit on one of the first or second secondaries and prune any secondaries toward the end of the main

do what I did! bury it, let a fruit show up elsewhere and pollinate it. Take what you get and prepare for next year!
