I have a fruit that stopped growing on the OTT measurements a week ago and was wondering if they sometimes start back how long until it restarted. If it may restart in a week or so then I would leave well enough alone, but I dont want it to go down to rot either. I see no real reason for it to have stopped. The vine, pumpkin and plant are in good shape and its only at 55 days. My Potash level could verywell be the reason though. Whats everybodys 2 pennys.
Thanks
Rick

Rick, from what I have ever grown or what other growers have grown, I have never seen a pumpkin stop growing and then pick back up on growth again a week later, but thats not to say its never happened before. I do believe a pumpkin could still be growing on the inside and you would not see the inches gained on the outside. Maybe this is why some pumpkins go heavy to the OTT?,, I dont think anyone could know that answer unless its grown on a scale for sure though. Just my 4 pennys and a nickles worth.

Thanks Brooks. I'll leave her on until the weekend. If she dont move I'll evict her from the patch. LOL.

cold, cloudy weather shut my fruit down in late August of '07,,,sun and warm temps returned and I put on 250-300lbs one ended up a new pb @1290,,,that said,,you should see some movement after a week if the weather wasn't a problem something else must have happened,,

I should add,,I did have a fruit stop growing last year for some "unexplained" reason in early Sept,,it happens

good luck

I have had mine slow to a crawl and then start up again. I think here more then anything else it's the heat, those 90+ days slow everything down.

We have hot 100 for several days in a row at least 3 times this summer, and my 1081 keeps coming back.

Our weather has been pretty consistant in the mid to upper 90's for the last 8 weeks. I cant even get any rain to fall within a mile of here. But its been 13 days now and it hasent moved a millimeter, so in the morning its gonna hit the scales if nothing is wrong under it. At least if it is it would give a reason for stopping. I have 2 left in the patch so hopefully I'll have something to take to the fair anyway.

She hit the scales this morning OTT estimated at 697 actual weight 696. New PB for me. Beat my PB from last year by 600lbs exactly. I am pleased with it. The 1156 Hunt is a good seed, Thanks Phil.

forgot to put that last years was a Prizewinner from the Homey Depot with about 50 mains and 5000 sq/ft of plant. It was a mess to say the least.
