I can set a new one anywhere,,,where is best. The first 20 feet of my plant had most all its vines cut (but new vines have grown in their place...about 200 leaves so far) I can set a pumpkin anywhere in this scarce first 20 feet. There is a run of about 6-7 feet where my old pumpkin was that has no growth. After that..the next 25 feet is where I intend to set another 2 or more fruit. The new growth after the pumpkin has is producing pumpkins "everywhere" I have one at the tip right now, at close to 45 feet out it's trying to grow a pumpkin.

I am just happy to have set anything this year. I only have one on a main vine and the other 7 are on secondaries. I should soon be down to 4 in the next couple of days. I am doing comparisons on growth, then I will knock it down to 1 per plant.

Wait untill you can set one out 75 to 100 ft and then grow a big one.

Brooks, you told me 80 feet was long enough to get a big one growing.....

That's my plan, a hundred footer 1,000 pounder. Honestly, I am thinking of one somewhere in the middle of the pack. You guys act as though you do not believe the growth spurt my plant has taken. I'll post pics to my diary soon. Maybe I should cut all pumpkins off and see how long I can get the vine to grow.
