winches, tractor ramps, straps, a pallet and about 6 guys...or go to the team pumpkin website and follow the tripod instructions...<http://www.team-pumpkin.org/>

Lifting ring and forklift or tripod to get it onto a pickup; or a lifting tarp and several strong friends to do same, get it onto a pickup. Onto a decked pallet in the pickup. Pay your help after with a generous bbq feed.

would depend on how big it is? free beer and pizza will usually bring enough bodies to lift the pkin with help of a lifting tarp however over 1000 pounds a tri-pod and lifting straps is a safer way. unless you have access to a fork-truck?

That depends on what resources you have available. I use the David Copperfield levitation trick. Bad things will happen to me if I reveal that secret.

You can always pull the truck into the patch and run the vine into the bed and pollinate her right up there next year.

I used Ray's straps to lift my pumpkin last year. They'll lift 5000 pounds! Happy customer.

I have been lucky that I have a friend who owns a wrecker business. His boom wrecker does a wonderful job!

Get a good strong friend and find the tutorial on how to roll a pumpkin that size and put it on a pallet. It's in one of the How to grow giant pumpkin books by Don Langevin. This technique was used many times before weights went up to current levels

OK I was just kidding about the levitation trick here's a link to my diary from few years ago, click on the next one for a picture of the opposite side. http://bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=29073 I put a chain around the bucket on the tractor, and hook a 20' tow strap to the chains after wrapping it around the fruit, then lift the fruit with the tow strap pursed around it like the stitches on a baseball and tie down straps on each side to prevent it from slipping. The important part is lift the fruit only enough to get a pallet under it. I then put forks on the bucket and lift the pallet with the forks. I learned the hard way about lifting the pumpkin any higher with this setup.
