Small time grower in Eugene, Oregon here. It is odd that everyone is keeping so quiet. No news is good news?

The silence is deafening from the entire west coast.

the weather sucks for starters, very hot here this summer. Today in grants pass, we registered in at a whopping 117 degrees. I can say, my plants do not like this heat.

Wannabee Oregon Grower here.....lol Last year visited the Canby WO....Loved it...We were wishing we had your type of weather....Well what a different year for Colorado......
Over 23" of rain in my electronic rain gauge since March, havent had 5 days in a row over 90, no days at 100, havent gone three days with out rain. Lots of toronadic activity hail,.....Been misty with high humidity...very different for dry arrid Colorado....
We are wondering if this keeps up what kind of winter we will have......
Good Luck Growing Oregonians......You live in a very beautiful state too.....

Haha...haven't had a single day in the 90's this year, havne't had 5 days in a row of 80+ here and were near %200 for rainfall. I'd take a hot summer over a cool wet summer.

113°F at our house yesterday. The peppers and corn looked very happy. Everything else, not so much.
The good news is, I now have drip irrigation for the pumpkins. I just sweat on them as I'm pruning.

Oh, I'm thinking some BIG ones are going to come out of the west coast this year. Warm temperatures and a little less rain is what I've heard about from that side of the country. The silence is definitely deafening. I heard of vine growth in the early part of the season that forced some growers to extend their patch it was so good. It will be interesting to see what is going to come from those patches this year if this pattern stays the same.

Officially 109 here yesterday, Seattle, Olympia, Chehalis (114) and many other Western WA cities set records for both hottest highs and lows. Our low yesterday was 72. A lot of burnt leaves-plumbing issues yesterday mid day. Plants will recover, can't wait for cooler weather next week. Today is supposed to be around 90, cooler but still hot for us. We have a bunch of nice pumpkins off to great starts - we'll see how the season goes. I haven't heard of any big ones yet but remember we grow slow and steady and put on a lot of size and weight in September, October.
