A diary is a personal thing, on here we have the chance to look at others. Personaly I would never question what someone puts in their diary. It is just a great honour to be allowed to see that stuff. Appreciate what you see.

LOL, this is a funny post. I was thinking the same thing Paul. I belive growers are kinda reluctant to tell the size because of a couple of reason. 1, Keep your competitors guessing, 2, Fear of sabatoge 3, Growers dont want to get everyones hopes up and then the pumpkins go down. I agree with Phil, its each persons own space though. I guess its like the song says, know when to hold em and know when to fold em.

references to size but not age, and pictures without a beer can or something to compare size to are disappointing to me. The diary is mainly for the grower, yes, but next year when they look back to their journal for comparison there will be nothing to go by.

You have given me things to think of in my diary posts. I haven't included the cross when posting pics cuz I didn't think of it. I will do so on my next update. I normally put a soccer ball in the pics for size perspective, didn't last week but already plan to for next week. We don't measure as often as some so don't always have measurements when I post. I will try to include them from time to time. Sherry LaRue

i used to put pictures and ott measurements in my diary also Paul, but the last couple years I kinda let that fade somewhat, mostly because I'm lazy,,lol I think one reason why growers dont post OTT and pictures is because if they go to 2, 3, 4 weigh offs a year, they dont want other growers to know what they have, cause if other growers know, the other grower might have something just a tad smaller and now not take it to the same weigh off that they know that grower is taking his big one, they now know their pumpkin has a chance of being beat '' now that they know the other growers measurements'', so now ,that grower can save his pumpkin for another weigh off that he thinks he has a chance of winning. (this is just one example why I think ott and pictures arnt shown and why you dont see the heavy hitters posting pictures and ott measuremnts,,lol)

First year I sorta went overboard and documented a whole bunchOcrap. This year is rather sparser, but. I put in what I want to share. If I have a good picture that might help someone else, I put it up. If I have something I want to remember, I put it up. I consider the diary a mini-blog where I can keep track of what I want to and need to for next year, and share it too. A lot of times I post a pumpkin pic this year, then give other friends that are NOT members a link to see the picture. Consider the diary notes you can't lose (as I wonder where one of my notebooks is right now on the 961.5...)
I put up what I got, if you want to hide from me at the weighoff that is fine. I WILL sleep in that patch with reinforcements if needed.
It's up to the grower what they share though. I've been very guilty of skipping some pics or mention of exactly where some of my fruits are at, hehehe. I am still taking pictures and noting down measurements, but. I don't have to share everything.
I think the diary bit is one of the better features here.
