Well, with only enough land to have one competition plant anytime something goes wrong you are pretty much done for the season. Now that all the hard maintnance work with the plant had been completed it was time to sit back, spray and watch the monster grow. Unfortunately the pumpkin Gods felt differently. It looks as though bacterial wilt or something close to that has decided to ravage my patch. It's amazing how in only two days one's plant can go from looking pristine to something that resembles a compost pile! So good luck to everyone! I'm on the sidelines cheering the rest of you on. (With beer in hand of course)

Sorry to hear your done. I am having a crappy season as well. First two sets aborted before day 10. They got mushy so I cut em off. One of my first sets is still doing OK. Key word OK. I have set 5 more in the last two days hoping to at least beat my PB from last year. As for a competitor or winner? Not even looking in that direction. I am only out to beat myself this year. So, as I am doing. Start planning for next year!!!

Sorry to hear that John. Yes, we backyard growers usually have all our hopes on 1 or 2 plants and when they go down...that is it.
Enjoy the rest of summer doing other things!!

John, sorry about your luck. I am growing one of your 1154.8 from last season. Hopefully it will make it to weigh off time. I am having some trouble with the stem splitting partially but the plant is great. It should be okay. Mark

Sorry John. You've got a seat next to me on the sidelines if you got the beverages. I assume you were growing that 1154? I ended up giving the 1154 I was growing to a friend due to lack of room and it has been growing like a beast for him.
