Well, This yr had so much potential, It started out great. Early polination everything was going well.
Till the plants started getting dug up, irigation hoses were stolen.
One of my plants may not be an AG(oops some lucky SOB got one hell of a plant by stealing it from me) and my other is only a ft long with a week of cold weather headed our way.
I was hoping for a 300 pounder. but now will just be happy with anything.
Plus I had to pick my fair produce real early just to have somthing to enter. HAd several pickers this yr.
I havent decided about growing pumpkins in 2010. But right now I just dont feel it

Sorry to hear that CCW, maybe next year, a year off in planning, and maybe a bit better luck with weather will always help. There is always next year to look forward to.

I have been thinking of taking next year off.
Not because I get frustrated with mother nature, but because I want to spend a summer doing other things and spend a year growing other things in the garden for a change, that dont require as muhc time and maintenance.
I wont know for sure until the fall.

Sometimes a year, two, or three doing other things is just the ticket. I have had pumpkins the past three years but put no real effort into them and did not really grow for competition. It was what I needed to do to recharge from a moderate case of pumpkin burn out. This hobby can take a tremendous amount of time and effort if you want to succeed at growing big pumpkins, and success is not guarenteed by any means. This year I am growing again and enjoying it. And since I'm still trying to find work I've been able to make time for the patch without cutting into family time to do it. Do what you need to do, pumkpkin growing will be there when you are ready to pick it up again.

Aaron, you're still welcome to c'mon down here in Oct, pumpkin in hand, in backend of vehicle, on a trailer, or not. Still hoping you get a halloween decoration at least, if not breaking your PB.
