I can now identify with the southern growers. We have had a warmer and dryer than normal spring. Early summer has also been above average. We are now into an official heat wave. the temperature in my patch today was 106 F or 41 C. There is no change expected before the week end. The sprinklers are working overtime.
I have no experience growing with this kind of heat. Hopefully it's a positive experience. Time will tell.

We had the hottest year on record last year in Denver and we were the second most improved weigh-off site last year (and that was after being in the top two the year before). I don't think dry heat is a bad thing as long as it is managed well. Scherber had those tornado misters going all the time last year and set a new Colorado record last year.

You got that right Jake!! We thought we had it hot on the mainland and then I saw the news tonight that Port Alberni was one of the hot-spots on the whole coast.

Heat wave is here for awhile and they are forcasting a warmer than average August and September too!!

Yay, finally heat here too, may actually see 90 degrees today, maybe! Then tomorrow warm/humid/and maybe yep more rain! I haven't had to water all season except to fertilize! Wow! We had tornados in our neck of the woods this weekend, not something we see on a regular basis. Looks like no one was hurt, and they were low level tornadoes, but geeze, in upstate new york, just add to the weird weather...

We have been in the 90's here this week, supposed to be 99 tomorrow and cooling to 94 on Thursday! Western Washington is know for it's cool, wet climate, not heat! Plants are enjoying the warm nights but not me! Luckily we don't have much humidity here. The well is definitly getting a work out keeping the sprinkler system going.

1008????

Okay, yes, I've been dealing with this stuff for months. Hope you can hang in and ride the ride. At least when you have hot days you usually have those lovely warm nights the pumpkins love. Keep them happy during the day and they should grow like gangbusters at night.

AS for people, drink more plain ol' water; stay out of the most frying afternoon sun... and eat lightly until it cools off. My heaviest meal will be breakfast if it's going to be 110...

Oh, any age has the right to mess around in the sprinklers when 'adjusting the pattern' at anything over 90f ...
