There is a weed killer out that that Lowes sells that is very similar to Round Up, but for the life of me I cant remember the name of it. It worked exactly the same as Round Up and was almost half the price.
I used a brand a couple years ago(I bought at Lowes) that Tremor said had almost the exact same ingredients as Round Up, but cant remember what it was I used. Anyone else use a generic type weed killer that is similar to Round Up?

Look at the ingredients for Glyphosate (and nothing else). It is sold under many different names.

I don't believe you'll ever find Roundup brand at any big box store with 41% glyphosate. More like 18%. I only find the 41% at feed stores / etc...from my experience anyway.
HI-YIELD also makes a popular product called KILLZALL.

so the only thing I need to look for on the label is Glyphosate, now will there be anything else on that label, or will Glyphosate be it?

There is a generic product at Wal Mart called "Eliminator" which is 41% glyphosate. I have used it for several years. It is about half the cost of Roundup which is only 18% glyphosate. Roundup has some extra ingredients though.

Despite lawsuits & cheap Asian imports Monsanto still commands the majority of the glyphosate market. Genetically modified (GM) crops looked like they would keep Monsanto healthy for years but they are still struggling. Even the state of Iowa is suing them under the Sherman antitrust act.
New Roundup Power Maxx is the latest & greatest to date from original patent holder Monsanto. It's 48.7% in an all surfactant base. Great stuff with the price starting at $87.50/gal in 2.5 gallon jugs. Tote tanks & bulk tanker deliveries are cheaper.
Monsanto still offers original Roundup Pro in 2.5's. I sell them for $52.50 per gallon or $131 per jug.
Monsanto offers many other versions today. Roundup Quick Pro Dry is very popular & effective. They also make Ranger & Ranger Pro to compete with themselves. Really it just occupies shelf space that Monsanto's competitors might otherwise fill.
Nufarm is probably #2 in glyphosate sales. Since they provide some basic manufacturing to Monsanto there is no questioning the integrity of Nufarm. They are larger overall especially in the selective herbicide market. I used to work with the Nufarm rep & we're pretty tight. I have a lot of respect for Nufarm.
Dupont drives me crazy. Their smelly, ugly, cheap gly shows up on state bids for less than $30/gallon.
Pumpkin growers should take confidence that most any 41% gly you'll find will get the job done. We sell the surfactant based generics as low as $99-$139 (depending on quantity & timing) per 2.5 gals. Try to not pay more than that.

''Eliminator'', thats it! I thought I bought this stuff at Lowes but now know I was mistaken. I was at Lowes last night trying to remember the cheaper stuff I used to buy but nothing on the shelves rang a bell when looking at it, no wonder I couldnt find it, it is at Wally world!,,lol. thanks Larry.
Thanks for that info Tremor!

Cornerstone Plus and Gly-phe-star are some generic roundups, the same as Roundup PowerMax. Most farm coops will probably carry something similar

Can you use a Roundup type product in your patch now? As long as you dont get any on your plant?

Yes...with all this rain the weeds have gone wild so we're spraying Roundup every other week.

I would avoid some of the newer Roundup products that have residual herbicides added to them. I'm afraid they could cause problems if your vine grows over where it was sprayed and the roots get into it.

Thanks, the weeds are not near the vines, the weeds are in the empty space where Im sure the pumpkins roots are..I dont think I have to worry about that...right? Roundup has to be applied to leave surface of weeds....
So once this rain stops, I will hook up my gallon milk jug attached to me pump sprayer and do some spot weeding. Unless I am wrong and I hope someone will tell me...thanks. Croley
