It's been a tough 3 months in New England..I think 1000 lbers will be contenders. Of course there are always a few that somehow beet the odds and grow a monster even under these adverse conditions. Mark

Damn the rain...full steam ahead! It's been tough, but there's still some summer left. Everyone up here is behind by weeks, but some huge specimens are still possible. It would be nice to see a dry and warm September...it could make the difference.

In northern CT we got 2.5 inches of rain last night. I have already lost one of my two plants.

Wait until October, you'll see East Coast growers pulling in with 1200, 1300, 1400, 1500 or higher. It's all in the soil and in the skills of them east coast growers. Doesn't matter the rain, clouds, bugs, cool Spring ya'll say, you know there's magic somewhere in the East. I'd say our legs been nearly pulled off by now.

my friend "the hammer " brings up a very good subject. sore but good ---lol
definately speaking for ron and i only. where we usually target 450 to 500 pounds by the end of july? this year our best pumpkins will be lucky to make 275. thats weight you will not make up i dont care how great august and september are. once weight and growth are lost they are lost.
the absolute best i would hope for is 250 by august 1st, 1050 to 1,100 estimate on tape september 1st and add 250 to 300 for sept 1st to october 7th and you get a guestimate of? between 1,300 and 1,400
and thats all dependent on good weather the rest of the way out. if we dont get it? 1,200 will be more realistic.
i dont think im out on a limb when i say there will be no new world records outta rhode island this year.
hell in a fantastic year a new world record would be a monumental accomplishment.

Pap, you make me feel better then. Big Boy on the 1026 Young might get about there too. All that matters though is that she holds together and makes the scale with one more pound than my main competition... and over the state record would be awesome. :) Good luck on having Ma Nature cooperate for you. [new englander only by club affilation. If I COULD run a pipe your way with heat and sunshine I would]
