Can you predict an approximant end weight of your pumpkin based on how it is growing now?

many growers keep detailed records of individual pumpkins from their previous years of growing. we compare 20-30-40-50-60- etc, day measurements against our previous best. (this comparison by far is the best rule of measure to see how your fruit compare to other past impressive sized pumpkins)
we also will compare our weekly growth with others charts within our club.
we can compare past performance vs present on a weekly basis, for sure.this gives us a pretty good final guesstament size.
however, all it is is a comparison, a guesstamate based on several pumpkins past history of growth.

I'm having enough trouble predicting whether i'll even have an "end weight" my Punky has only averaged just under an inch the last two days. It's been cool and drizzling rain for that same period so sunshine today should help. I have tried a prediction but WAY too many variables if one hits that "bump in the road" I think a good prediction is....if you don't hit any of those bumps....you're automatically in the top 20%-30% for the year no matter the genetics.

I've used an Al Eaton formula I think....usually works best for 30+ day fruits....but count the days till Sept 20th and multiple that by .5 * (your avg per day growth over 3-5 days) add that number to what you already have...viola! It's interesting if you go back an compare it to older fruits...it can be amazing close! Assumes things continue on of course...no a Stump rotting or split, etc.
