hows the rest of buckeye country and beyond doing? It has rained here more in the last 3 days than it has all spring and early summer, word of precaution: OVGPG tour group bring your mud-boots. This weather is nuts!

I very much welcomed yesterday's rainfall and expected to see a swarm of cucumber beetles this afternoon, but saw none. The Warrior Z applied last Sunday must still be effective.

I am now ready for a few days of temps. in the mid-eighties with bright sunshine.. I'm very afraid that the pumpkin pollinated on June 24th won't go another three months if it stays wet. Best plant and heaviest weight I've ever had on this date.

Looking forward to the SOGPG patch tour on August 9th.

Dude, the word is TRENCH for drainage. I have one the same date, on mill fabric and with a tarp shelter to keep it dry (drier) and shaded. I have to apply a lot of water every day and drainage away from fruit is vital...

Hubby is complaining about the mud clump pile by back step, I keep a cheap dull paring knife there to scrape the patch shoes off. Above did gift us tonight, I'll measure the fraction of an inch (most likely) in the AM amd consider it a major gift. I will still have to water.

I can always water my plants, but I cant do anything about the sunshine, thats what sucks the most for me.

Im with Joe on this one, I was excited to see the rain for a first time soaking in July. Hope things continue to grow good for you Youngn!

Okie, Ole Pumpkindude has been growing for years, hes not talking about keeping the pumpkin dry, I think hes talking about to much rain = splits and just the damp weather itself (disease) for the pumpkin plant itself.

You nailed it Brooks. Our ground is well-drained and rain is welcome, but it's time for a little heat and warm nights to get 'em going.

plus no ammount of trenching can help from strong winds and large hail (that would be tomorrow's forecast) LOL

I'm not in Ohio but last night we recieved close to 2 inches and the patch is nearly submerged. I hope my plants are thirsty!

Christy, I can deal with winds, I can trench, I can tarp, but I don't have the $$$ to buy a full patch coverage of hailnet. Not this year.

We tend to have low humidity so fungus isn't a worry, but. I keep them soggy enough trying to keep them cool, a good rain doesn't worry me, and my need to trench does the rest... we tend to get trace to maybe a quarter inch, serious deluge approaches half an inch.

Good luck to y'all that get gifted from above, may you not split and yes, weighoffs are a long ways off yet, most of them.

If I could get a pumpkin set everything would be good here. Lots of females aborted before they opened.
