HI there...I have a slight problem and I think I've caught it in time. The stem of my pumpkin has a teeny tiny, skinny slit. It probably isn't even a 1mm deep but what can I do to make sure it doesn't continue? I'm elevating my vine, etc and have cut the tap roots...any other ideas?

all stems get spits sooner or later imo, you should put some kind of Fungicide on the split( or alcohol ), and set a fan up asap, as long as the split stays on the stem you'll do fine, it's the one's that migerate to the pumpkin that are the real problem.

Buy Daconil or Ortho garden and disease control same thing....pour some in cap or small cup and paint on young stem splits...It will dry it up and heal it.

I do the same thing Jason does, works like a charm. Ole Beachy trick that he showed me years ago.
