I need some help on doing a pitch fork design. One of my pumpkins has a short stem is growing the fastest of the three on the main. It is at 12 feet and i have two more beyond it growing at 13 and 15 feet. I want to keep this one but with the short stem, do I cut the main just after it even though the main is quite large. Will this stunt the plant and lose some growth? What is the best way to do this?

you do not want to cut main ,unless absolutely necessary ! if you are worried about main giving to much stem stress , How about pulling the whole main after pumpkin to a better angel, sometimes a little each day , then try to get it rooted again !
