Well, we were going to see Jamies....itZ up to him....

However to be able to get around and then have our picnic reduces our chance to go to the SpringZ and see their patches....we can however schedule a road trip later to spend the day down there....

Not much to see in my patch. Anyone that wants is welcome to drop by to see what vines without leaves looks like but probably a waste of time to have my patch on the tour. Lol

As any offer for pumpkin vine viewing at my place goes, I join Will in also saying.....nothing worth looking at here. (I would be pleased to see Mark's patch downtown, if he's willing to allow that.) The 2009 weather has been uniquely different from '08. I'm learning that pumpkins are very sensitive to irregular and abnormal weather !

As for other things that are going well (and are adequately protected) I can say that this year offers ample bounty in tomatoes, potatoes !, peppers, peas, squash, carrots and basil. I have a forest of sunflower plants that are healthy and robust.....and yes, create now TOO MUCH shade upon adjacent areas with corn, beans, and beets. I should have hacked them down with a machete weeks ago, but did not.

Those other crops are slower by mere recognition that minimal hours of good sun per day are vital. I hate to admit it as well, but my two pumpkin vines are also shaded for too long by those sunflowers. If the afternnon clouds over then there goes your sub-minimal sunlight to make everything develop nicely.

I should host a backyard party with sunflower plant machete hacking as a participant event.....after 3 beers have been consumed.
