I have caught one this year in a live trap, and 6 last year in a live trap. I think they are getting smart to the trap I have had to rebate 3 times this week. a chipmunk is prob eating my bait.
What are some Old time farmer tricks at keeping these furry patch monsters at bay?
Thanks!

Throw away the live traps and get lethal ones. All that is happening when they are trapped live and relocated is they go do damage somewhere else.

Search and Destroy, that's what happened to the mole who made the mistake of crossing my patch.

the old way is the 22 cal. But as my friends at school used to say use your 50 cal. Buckhorn 209 Magnum ultra-modern conventional in-line muzzleloader, see the only thing with that is I live in a city and people don't like you shooting at things.

In my city, they are used to hearing those kind of gunshots so it would be no big deal. lol (actually, I live well enough out from the city, but you get the drift....

I agree with Tom. The conibear is the way to deal with them. Last summer my neighbor shot 57 of them.

Larry, I wish I would have listened to your advice sooner, but in the end I got them.

You can still use the live traps , ( it's makes it easier for the wife to feed 22 lead to them ) ...

Get some Bazooka bubble gum, chew it up a little and place near den/hole or where they're munching in your patch. It's supposed to keep them "busy" Good luck!

Fox urine seems to scare them off. Poison smoke bombs in dens work too. electric fence works if it doesn't short out. .22 magnum or 12 ga. is permanent control.

watched one walk right over the fox urine i just put down. i tried trapping one for a week no takers. talked to the local wildlife trapper hired by my work he said. " they do not like the feel of the wire trap on their feet so cover the bottom" he suggested soil i used card board, he also said use frozen margarita mix and make a trail going into the trap, then put a few slices of green apples in there, i used the bottled margarita mix, first attempted using the new recommendations and we have hog!!!!!
