I am wondering if any of you have ever looked for a sponser to assist in carting a pumpkin to a weigh-off...assuming it is worthy of a top spot in the competition. I know...its a little premature, but I don't have a truck to cart it around although a small trailer might do the job. Just wondering if a local car dealership might be sympathetic, should the need arise. Any experiences? The nearest weigh-off,I think ,for me, is over three hours away. just wondering....and do you have to go to a weigh-off to qualify for the record book if you use some other means.

I would suggest you contact local gardening centers or possibly a landscape company. Make a deal that if they come scoop up your pumpkin and help you deliver it to a weighoff, they can use it to display in front of their business after. You would both equally benefit as it would be a minimal cost to them and the reward of a consumer draw and attention to their business. If their hauling equipment has their company graphic on it, it's advertising for them all the way down the road and at the weighoff would also be a selling point.
