I have a couple of pumpkins at day 8 today, that are growing slowly. The day 10 circumference won't be any thing to be excited about(I'm guessing 19-22").
John(5150) stated that he had one with an 18" circ. that ended up at 1154.8 lbs. Any other success stories with slow starters?

Doug in 4 years I only had one fruit that made the 10 day marks, I don't even take them anymore.

day 10 is not an indicator to worry about, one of my slowest at day 10 grew my biggest fruit in san diego. What it does on day 20 through 50 is what counts most

I agree with Dan and Duster don't worry about day 10 measurements. I also agree with John in that the biggest in the end are/were often slow starters, of course, this doesn't mean all slow starter are going down the path to hugeness.

Doug, my 672 plant was 23" last year D10. Taping 1200 first of Sept.

I only take D10 measurements to increase my stress level.

I believe Quinn had one last year D10 18" that went mid 1400's on the scale.

At day 10 the plant could still be filling out. A grower could have a 32" day 10 pumpkin but his plant could be almost filled out compared with another grower with a sub 20" pumpkin on a plant that is only half way filled in. With the odd weather we are having in the east this season & the plants are behind size wise the measurments under 20 days may skewed a little.

Trying not to panic here as well Christy, the weather has my plants about a week and a half behind.
By the way, I remember talking with you at Oakland Nursery about stealing Coach Mauro from your school to Canal Winchester. My son showed up for freshman conditioning & Coach Mauro grinned ear to ear. Zach is now 6'5" 230 lbs & size 18 shoes ( 14 years old), I think he might make the team...LOL

If you live in the east, you might panic now and go fishing.
