I know Potash is good for the patch and some is present in wood ash, but my question is there anything in the ashes that could potentially hurt my plants. We only burn real wood no manufactured logs. I have buckets of this stuck every year and just dump it in the back of my property. If it will help the patch and garden I will be psyched.

It'll raise the pH more than lime. Go easy. Have you had a soil test?

Then I wouldn't use it. There are plenty of other ways to deliver potash that won't alter the pH. If K tested low, look for sulfate of potash.
